Israel tour March 11-18, 2019

Experience a Bat Mitzvah at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem and join a tour to the South of Israel.

The backdrop for the tour is that Maya will travel to Israel for her Bat Mitzvah at the Wailing Wall. It is a unique opportinity to experience this seremony. You are also invited to a Bat Mitzvah tour, where we will visit the South of Israel.  My first visit to Israel was a similar trip in 2010, where I experienced a Bar Mitzvah including a tour. It made an indelible impression. I have traveled back several times in the last 7 years.

The tour information brochure (see below) describes what is included in the tour. In addition , travel and accomodation before and after the tour will have to be considered . For my part, I plan to travel on Friday/Saturday and stay in Tel-Aviv a few days before returning home.

11 March

In the morning we will meet at the Kotel and celebrate with Maya her bat-mitzvah. Afterwards we will have a tour at the Temple Tunnels. In the evening we will continue our celebration with a meal at the hotel in Jerusalem

12 March

Today we will start our day with a visit to Emek Ayalon. We will continue to Emek Sorek, and from there go to our next stop – Wine tasting at Tzora Vineyard. From there we will continue to the Elah Valley and Tel Azeka, the site of the historic battle between David and Goliath, where we’ll hike along the mountain. We will then visit a beautiful stalactite cave known as Avshalom Cave.

13 March

Our day will start with a visit to Qumran. From there we will continue with a hike full of beautiful scenery of David’s Canyon at Ein Gedi. Our afternoon will be spent relaxing in the Dead Sea

14 March

Today we will wake up early and climb up the rugged Snake Path to Masada, listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. We’ll take a “living history” tour of King Herod’s palace-fortress and hear the dramatic story of the Jewish Zealots in their rebellion against the Romans, the backdrop of the “never again” Israeli mentality. We will then drive to Kfar Nokdim and enjoy a camel ride and a traditional Bedouin meal

15 March

Our first stop today will be the Israeli Air-Force Museum. From there we will continue to Sde Boker and visit Ben Gurion’s tomb with a scenic overlook of Zin Canyon. Our final stop will be the Ramon Crater, a landform unique to Israel’s Negev desert.

16 March

Our day will start with a visit to Timna Park. Among the many activities available there are colored sand bottle craft, and a tour of the reconstructed Tabernacle. From there we will continue to the Hai-Bar Yotvata Narital reserve and experience the wild life of Israel.

17 March

Today is an exciting day. We will start by mountain climbing in the Red Canyon. From there we will continue to the underwater Observatory and finish the day at the Dolphin Reef.
