Starting out the day in Asheville with a visit to the Folk Art Center after breakfast. Considered going to the Biltmore estate, owned by the Vanderbilt’s. Do not want to pay $65 to get inside, so we are continuing on to Pigeon Forge. Not sure if we are going to drive on I40 or do the scenic roads in Great Smokey Mountains. I guess we’ll go the interstate if it still raining tomorrow. Titanic museum in Pigeon Forge, before finding a hotel locally or in Knoxville.

Folk Art Center, Asheville, NC

Nice Center which will be turned into a museum soon. Many gifted artists and craftsmen had their work here.

Asked the ranger about the way ahead, possibilities to see wildlife,…. Sure we would be able to see a black bear…. Possibly, but we opted for the shorter route to save some time.

Great Smokey Mountains, NC/TN

Started out nicely with fine weather. After a while we had some more fog and clouds. No so much rain today! God a few nice shots. Turns out we should have waited a few more weeks, so the fall colors start to appear on the trees.

Pigeon Fork, TN

The Titanic Museum is a two-story museum shaped like the RMS Titanic. It is located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and opened on April 8, 2010. It is built half-scale to the original ship. Similar to the one in Branson, Missouri, the museum holds 400 pre-discovery artifacts in twenty galleries. It is the largest permanent Titanic museum in the world

The structure is built in a pool to create the illusion of the Titanic at sea, and the 2-hour, self-guided tour is designed to give guests the sensation of being an original passenger on the Titanic’s 1912 maiden voyage.

As guests enter, they are given a passenger boarding ticket. On this ticket is the name of an actual Titanic passenger and the class they were traveling. Guests will learn the individual stories of several passengers. In the Titanic Memorial Room, they will find out whether their ticketed passenger survived.

The structure cost $25 million to build.

Knoxville, TN

Drove to Knoxville, which was not a long drive in itself, but the traffic were quite significant. We also opted for finding a hotel along the way. Not so smart. Better book it in advance and drive to the correct location.
